HATTERAS NETWORKS WINS NXTCOMM EOS RECOGNITION FOR SUPPORT OF WORLD’S LARGEST MID-BAND ETHERNET NETWORK
Hatteras Networks’ partnership with XO Communications is recognized with NXTcomm Eos Award for Strategic Support
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC, JUNE 14, 2007 — Hatteras Networks™, the Mid-Band Ethernet™ market, technology and services leader, has been acknowledged by NXTcomm for its strategic customer support of the largest Mid-Band Ethernet network in the world: XO Communications’ nationwide roll-out of Mid-Band Ethernet services in 60 markets. The NXTcomm Eos award for Strategic Support (Special Category) was presented to the technology vendor that demonstrates the most outstanding strategic support of a specific customer. Hatteras Networks received the runner-up award, second only to Microsoft.
“Our exhibitors truly raised the bar this year, resulting in fierce competition,” said Wayne Crawford, NXTcomm Executive Director. “Awards were given in 12 far-reaching categories, demonstrating NXTcomm’s enormous reach. In addition to traditional categories like backbone, core and edge technologies, Eos awards were also presented for achievement in home networking, IPTV, advanced mobile services and strategic support. Hatteras Networks deserves significant praise for its leadership, innovation and role in driving our industry forward.”
The inaugural Eos Awards honor those exhibiting companies that have developed the most promising new technologies or provided the best new network services and strategic support. A judging panel of 16 consultants, technical journalists and service providers from the communications industry selected Eos Award winners in 12 categories. Named for the Greek goddess of dawn, the NXTcomm Eos Award is a testament to Hatteras Networks’ contribution to advancement and excellence in the world of communications. Hatteras Networks will be recognized along with other award recipients during a special reception on Wednesday, June 20th.
XO has been using Hatteras Networks’ Mid-Band Ethernet networking platforms since March 2006 and recently standardized on Hatteras Networks’ HN4000 and HN400 as the only platforms capable of supporting its service, quality and functionality requirements. XO leverages Hatteras Networks award-winning platforms to deliver a rich portfolio of Ethernet services nationwide.
“Our people are committed to the success of our customers during initial deployment and throughout the life of our products,” said Kevin Sheehan, President and CEO of Hatteras Networks. “We’ve built a dedicated customer support organization alongside a highly skilled product development team.”

About Hatteras Networks
Hatteras Networks is redefining the way carriers think about Ethernet services. Hatteras Networks’ Ethernet service edge solutions are leading Service Providers worldwide to a $15 billion expansion of the Metro Ethernet market, which had previously been limited to the fiber footprint. Historically, T1s and E1s have been the fundamental building block for voice and data business services. Now, Service Providers can cost-effectively offer up to 45 Mbps Mid-Band Ethernet services over existing copper facilities, enabling businesses to migrate from legacy Frame Relay, ATM and T1/E1 connections to transparent Ethernet services for voice and data business connectivity, infrastructure backhaul and mobile wireless backhaul solutions.
Already deployed on five continents, Hatteras Networks solutions are enabling a market expansion for carriers that is as significant for business services as “triple play” is for residential. For more information, visit www.hatterasnetworks.com.
